Thank you for sharing such a moving tribute. Eight years ago, I married the man who had been my high school sweetheart when I was 16 years old. He is a gift from God, and it is God who gives me smiles even when my husband doesn't. And sometimes, he just doesn't. But he's a wonderful father to our children and he is my committed partner. Smiles or no smiles, it's the commitment that really matters. Thank you again for your thought provoking post.

If I were not crying, you would have made me smile... if we replace the language and some historical specificity, we can assume this video is about us, Afro-Brazilian women, too.

Compelling video that I just watched at another blog. It really should be YouTubed if not already so the message can reach more people.

Thank you for sharing this.

I absolutely love this poem and was heartbroken when the embed code was taken down on youtube. Now I can post this amazing video on my blog.
