A Poem for His Wife called My First Lady by Joey Pinkney.
My First Ladyby Joey Pinkney
I wouldn't dare compare you to Michelle
You were there for me well before we knew of their story
Before Barack became the President of the United States
We were destined to unite our faiths and share united fates
You're my First Lady
And that's not to knock my mother
Because you're not my mother
All the struggles we've been through
I got to love her
By loving her, I discovered how to love you
And be more than a quote unquote lover
When we go to war, it's with each other
Not against each other
And when you take the lead and I have to follow
There's no pride to swallow
Because we'll be the last thing they divide and conquer
And if we lose, we'll cry tomorrow
Wipe the tears away and put the sanctions on sorrow
There will be no Lewinskys, Watergates or grassy knolls
We'll just bump fists then hold hands as we stroll
